Commercial Development Specialist

We are looking for a Commercial Development Specialist who will be responsible for supporting the adoption of breed association programs and technology in the seedstock and commercial sectors of the Canadian beef industry. You must have the ability to train and educate key business partners, commercial producers, and to organize and deliver information seminars.??Position Description Summary:Heifer Select is a newly funded ground-breaking initiative on behalf of a number of industry stakeholders to drive adoption, education and uptake of genomic technology tools in the commercial sector.?The Commercial Development Specialist role is to help deliver the objectives of the participating breed associations of the Heifer Select Genomics Project programs and technology nationally. Thus, the incumbent will be expected to market all of the participating cattle breed programs to commercial producers and industry partners.??Reporting to a designated committee from each of the participating associations, the role includes but is not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:Data capture and basic statistical analysis towards integrated producer genetic selection?Enroll and support commercial producers in related farm management software in person, over the phone or through online tutorialsPrepare and maintain status reports and schedules, track milestones/deliverables, critical paths and dependenciesRespond to all commercial producer and stakeholder inquiries?Give compelling and professional presentations in person, via video conference, and over the phoneAttend industry and networking events and trade showsCollecting, analyzing, and interpreting sales data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform sales strategies and drive revenue growthKeeping abreast of industry trends, and emerging technologies to identify new opportunities?Knowledge and Skills:Must be detailed orientedComfortable processing cattle using quiet handling methodsMust be flexible and adaptable to varied tasks and surroundingsAgriculture and cattle background necessaryStrong understanding of technology will be requiredMust be self-motivated, able to pursue new business opportunities, excel at time management and have a strong work ethicStrong organizational skills, exceptional communication skills, critical thinker and problem-solving skillsValid driver?s license?Travel:Employee will be based out of one of the Rocky View County, Alberta locations, and must be able to travel to farms, and industry events approximately 80% of the time, with some overnight, evening and weekend work possible.The majority of the work performed in this role will be, face-to-face client visits as required, over the phone and via video conference.?Benefits/Compensation:?Competitive salary12-month renewable contract roleLaptop, cell phone and all other technology required for the job are providedTravel and incidental reimbursements?Physical Demands:To perform this job successfully, the physical demands listed are representative of those that must be met by an employee.
